Dates on products keeping Quorn safe

Dates on products keeping Quorn safe

To make sure your Quorn products are safe and taste as delicious as the day they were made, it’s worth knowing exactly what the date on the packaging means and its implications. That way, you can enjoy Quorn Foods in their best possible condition.

So what do the different terms used by Quorn mean?

Best before Date

Most of our Quorn Products use the ‘Best Before’ date which indicates when the product will be in its best condition until. The world throws away $400 billion every year, with Northern America as the third-worst offenders behind Asia and Europe according to CNN. So we all need to wise up and pay attention to the best before dates on pack to try to reduce the amount of food thrown away.

Use by Date

This date will be seen on fresh products such as salads, meats and chilled meat free products, which typically go off quicker. Use by Dates indicate when a product is safe to consume until, so if the food goes past that date then you mustn’t eat it.

You should always follow instructions included on packaging for the best results.

Sell by Date

This is displayed for store workers, so you don’t need to pay too much attention to it. It just indicates how long the product is allowed to be on the shelves for. A product is not permitted to be displayed for longer than the Sell by Date. Usually, the Best before Date is around three days after.
