Athletes are increasingly joining Team Quorn. The latest to sign up is Great British cyclist Peter Kennaugh who uses Quorn as part of his training regime.

FUEL FOR WINNING

The Manx-born cyclist has entered many races and competitions over the years. After training hard and eating a balanced diet he has become a medal winner.

“I think the older you get, the more you work out your body, how it works and what affects you the best. I’m finally starting to realise what I need,” he said.

“Protein is really key to my success. I quite like to eat Quorn in the season when I’m trying to be really strict on a diet and what calories I’m taking in. Quorn’s great because it’s got just as much protein as some red meats and chicken yet the calorie content is so low. So you can afford to eat a lot more of it so I feel much more satisfied and full after the meal.”

EATING ON THE GO

Kennaugh has an incredibly tough training regime which allows him to perform at his best on his bike. And that means he doesn’t necessarily have much time to prepare healthy, fulfilling meals.

“On a typical training day I get up at around 7 o’clock and I go in and do my core exercises and stretches. Then, I get out on my bike. A hard day could be anything from five to seven hours.

“What I love about Quorn* is, especially when you’re training hard, you just throw it in a pan and in ten minutes it’s done. Broccoli, onion, garlic and a few spices – that’s it. So for me, it’s great because you’re getting your nutrients in you that you naturally need. It’s really efficient and effective.”
